HSK tool holders hold an important position in the field of CNC machining. They mainly refer to a tool interface originating from the German term "HohlSchaft Kegel", which means hollow tapered shank. The HSK tool holders' standard is the German standard DIN69873, with six standards and specifications, namely HSK-A, HSK-B, HSK-C, HSK-D, HSK-E, and HSK-F, of which three are commonly used: HSK-A (with internal cooling and automatic tool change), HSK-C (with internal cooling and manual tool change), and HSK-E (with internal cooling and high-speed automatic tool change).
Types of HSK Tool Holders
HSK tool holders come in various specifications, including types A, B, C, D, E, and F. Among them, the HSK-A type is the most commonly used, accounting for approximately 98% of the total usage.
Type A has drive slots, whereas Type E does not. Therefore, Type A, with its larger torque transmission, can handle some heavy cutting tasks. In contrast, Type E has smaller torque transmission and is suitable for light cutting tasks. Additionally, for tools labeled as Type E and Type F, the tapered section of the Type F tool is one size smaller. This means that for E63 and F63, while both have a flange diameter of φ63, the tapered section of F63 matches the size of E50. Hence, compared to E63, the spindle speed for F63 can be higher (with smaller spindle bearings).
CREATER Characteristics and Advantages of HSK Tool Holders
High Precision
HSK tool holders use a dual-contact system, where the 1:10 taper of the tool contacts the 1:10 taper of the machine tool spindle, and the flange face of the tool also closely contacts the spindle face. This design improves machining accuracy.
High Rigidity
Due to the hollow tapered shank design, HSK tool holders maintain high rigidity during high-speed machining, reducing vibration and deformation.
High Speed
HSK tool holders are suitable for high-speed machining, with spindle speeds reaching tens of thousands of RPM, meeting the modern manufacturing industry's needs for efficiency and high precision.
Easy Tool Change
The HSK tool holders system supports automatic tool change functionality, significantly enhancing machining efficiency.
